Step by step

How arranging home care works

  1. 1

    Step 1: Your first conversation

Call us or send an enquiry. We will ask a few simple questions about the support you are looking for, answer your questions and check that we cover your area. There is no pressure to decide anything on this call.
  2. 2

    Step 2: Your care assessment

A senior member of our team visits you at home. We talk about daily routines, health and wellbeing, the things you enjoy, home safety and what you would like care to help you achieve. Family members are very welcome to join.
  3. 3

Step 3: Your care plan and quote

We put together a written care plan and a clear quote based on what we agreed. You can ask questions, request changes and take time to decide.
  4. 4

    Step 4: Meeting your carers

Wherever possible, we introduce your carers before care begins, so the first visit feels familiar rather than new.

  5. 5

    Step 5: Ongoing reviews

We check in regularly and formally review your care plan to make sure it still suits you. If your needs change, we change your care.

Clear and fair

What affects the cost of home care?

Every person's care is different, so we prepare a quote based on your assessment rather than a one-size price list. The main things that affect home care costs are:

Visit length

How long each visit lasts.

Visit frequency

How many visits you need each day or week.

Timing

Whether visits take place in the evening, at weekends or on bank holidays.

Level of support

Whether one or two carers are needed for each visit.

Your quote will show exactly what is included. There are no hidden extras.

Help and advice

You can ask Telford and Wrekin Council for a free care needs assessment. Age UK also offers free, independent advice on paying for care.

Before your assessment

What to have ready

It helps to have a few things to hand when we visit. Do not worry if you do not have them all.
  • GP details and a list of current medication
  • A summary of a typical day, including any times that feel harder
  • Details of any equipment already in the home
  • Names and numbers of key family contacts
  • Any questions you would like to ask us
