What we look for in our carers

You do not always need previous experience to start a career in care. We look for people who are:
  • kind, patient and respectful
  • reliable and good at keeping to time
  • comfortable chatting with people of all ages and backgrounds
  • happy to learn and follow care plans carefully
  • committed to treating everyone with dignity

A full UK driving licence and access to a car is often helpful for home care visits.

All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and right to work checks.

What the role involves

A day as a home carer in Telford

No two days are quite the same, and that is part of what makes home care so rewarding. A typical shift might include:
  1. Morning visits

Helping people get up, washed, dressed and ready for the day, then preparing a good breakfast.

  2. Midday calls

Making lunch, offering medication reminders and checking that everyone has enough to drink.

  3. Afternoon support

Companionship, a short walk, shopping or a little light housework.

  4. Evening visits

Preparing supper, helping people get comfortable and settled for the night.

Throughout the day, you record each visit clearly and let the office know if anything has changed. You are never on your own: our team is always a phone call away during your shift.
